Pathway Grants
Fueling Student Innovation and Impact
Made possible by the generous contributions of our families and alumni, our Pathway Grant program empowers students to bring their ideas to life. Thorough the exploration of their entrepreneurial and innovative ambitions, the program provides resources, mentorship and/or support for students to develop projects that benefit them, our school and society at large.
Grant Categories
The Pathway Grants program aligns with the College’s mission to foster curiosity, creativity and innovation, offering students the opportunity to bring their visionary projects to life.
- Entrepreneurial Grant: The realization of a small business venture or creation of an idea that could be brought to market.
- WIC Grant: A project, program or initiative that directly impacts the experience for those within the WIC community.
- Social Grant: A project or initiative that inspires or realizes the improvement of something in the broader community (local, national, or global).
This program is significant to me because it gave me time, resources and space to put an idea into realistic practice. It elevated my confidence and allowed me to explore a new passion: film industry and knowledgable partnerships.

Recent Pathway Grant Projects
CNC Milling Machine
With the help of Pathway Grants, a Grade 10 student acquired a CNC machine for the College and continues to receive guidance in machine operation, item design and sales.
Class of 2024 Video
A Grade 12 student created a tribute video for the Class of 2024 that included all of his peers sharing insights and memories from their time at WIC.
Self-defense Program
A Grade 12 student passionate about self-awareness and self-defense, wanted to provide all WIC students with essential skills in these areas. Pathway Grants funded this initiative and allowed the student to select an appropriate self-defense program. As part of their Phys Ed. class, all Grade 10 students participated in the Safe4Life self-defense program.
Bike Club
The WIC Bike Club was developed to give students the opportunity to learn how to repair bicycles and give back to the community. The club restores old bikes and donates them to Calgarians in need through the Youth En Route program. Pathway Grants helped to establish space for the club at WIC and provide necessary equipment and tools for students to refurbish donated bikes.
Grade 12 Baking Club
Grade 12 students gather at lunch in a classroom to learn how to bake. The Pathway Grant program supplied essential equipment and tools to enrich the Baking Club’s activities, such as a mobile kitchen island, tabletop oven, bowls, kitchen utensils and basic ingredients.
The Bike Repair Program has been an amazing way to equip students with practical skills while giving back to the community. Thanks to the support from Pathway Grants and our partnership with local company Youth en Route, students are learning to repair bikes that are salvaged from landfills, recycling them and providing them to those in need. It’s inspiring to see their enthusiasm as they bring these bikes back to life and make a real difference.
