The Legacy and Spirit of WIC Houses
Our House system is a cherished tradition that fosters a deep sense of belonging within our community. Named after influential figures in our history, our four houses - Grant, Bedard, Davies and Goodall - promote teamwork, school spirit and a strong sense of community that extends to alumni and families.
When students join WIC, they are placed in one of the four houses. Students who have siblings, or had a parent attend WIC, are placed in the same house as their family member.
The Four
Houses
Grant
Named after Jack Grant, co-founders of the College and Headmaster from 1985 - 1990, Grant House members embody the pioneering spirit and leadership that Jack Grant exemplified, and proudly wear red.
Davies
Named after Terry Davies, co-founder of the College and its first Headmaster from 1982 - 1985, Davies House members proudly wear blue and strive to uphold the high standards set by their namesake.
Bedard
Proudly wearing purple, Bedard House members honour the legacy of Perry Bedard, who served as WIC Headmaster from 1990 - 1994.
Goodall
Goodall House is named in honour of Dr. Jane Goodall, a world-renowned primatologist and environmentalist. Dr. Goodall's visit to WIC in 2010 left a memorable mark, and the College celebrates her legacy of stewardship and environmental advocacy.
Students in Goodall House proudly don yellow and are inspired by her commitment to making a positive impact on the world.
Fostering Community and Belonging
The House system is a dynamic part of school life that brings students and faculty & staff together through friendly competition and shared experiences. Throughout the year, Houses compete in various challenges and activities, earning points in the quest for the coveted House trophy.
These competitions range from intramurals, reading challenges, club activities, creative arts, and more, ensuring that every one can contribute and shine.
