Student-Driven Experiences 

At WIC, clubs & activities are led by students, shaped by their interests and driven by their passions. Whether launching new initiatives, collaborating on meaningful projects, or creating opportunities for personal growth and stronger community connections, students take an active role in shaping their experience.

This commitment to student leadership fosters creativity, confidence and a strong sense of belonging. Students build friendships, develop new skills and turn ideas into lasting traditions that leave an impact.

Diverse Offerings 

WIC offers a wide variety of over 40 student-driven clubs and activities that cater to a range of interests. These clubs and activities meet during lunch or after school, fostering a sense of belonging and enabling students to forge deeper connections with peers across all grade levels who share similar passions.  
 
Our recent clubs exemplify the diverse interests and passions of our student body, highlighting the dynamic and evolving nature of the College’s club offerings. Whether rooted in tradition or sparked by new interests, each club contributes to the vibrant community spirit of WIC.

Investment Club

The Investment Club empowers students with financial knowledge, hands-on experiences and guidance from industry experts. Sessions cover topics like stock markets, investment strategies, cryptocurrency and ethical investing. Highlights include the stock/investment simulations, teamwork challenges and guest speakers.

Students gain valuable skills to build a secure financial future while exploring the dynamic world of finance.

Drama Performances

The Drama Productions club at WIC offers students an immersive experience in acting, stagecraft, storytelling and technical theatre. This after-school opportunity culminates in two annual productions, providing students with a platform to showcase their creativity and theatrical skills. 

Common Ground (GSA/QSA)

Common Ground Club is a GSA/ QSA (Gay/ Queer and Straight Alliance) which holds space for LGBTQ2+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Two-Spirit) students and their straight allies. Common Ground Club is a safe place to chat and be yourself! Everyone is welcome to attend. 

Newspaper

Newspaper Club is dedicated to journalism and reporting, covering WIC events and local news to keep our community well-informed. Through researching, writing, and editing, students sharpen their communication skills, develop their voice, and gain hands-on experience in storytelling and media.

Baking Club

The Grade 12 Baking Club is a place for students to share their love of baking through hands-on experiences, culinary experimentation and sharing delicious creations with fellow classmates. 

Truth & ReconciliACTION Club

This club is dedicated to integrating Indigenous ways of knowing into the College's educational practice year-round. Through workshops, events and initiatives, members engage in meaningful dialogue and actions that promote understanding, reconciliation and respect for Indigenous perspectives and histories.

Chess Club

Chess is an exciting and intuitive board game that blends strategy, knowledge and quick thinking. In WIC’s Chess Club, students have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of chess, sharpen their skills and connect with fellow enthusiasts.

Beyond regular club meetings, Chess Club members participate in various tournaments, including in-school competitions, inter-school matches across the city, and even online tournaments with international schools.

Jazz Band

Join our Jazz Band to dive into the rich tradition of jazz music, where students from different grade levels can explore ensemble performances and improvisation sessions. WIC’s Jazz Bands offer opportunities to perform at various venues around the city, allowing students to showcase their talents and build their musical creativity and collaboration skills.

Fictional Literature Society

This club focuses on analyzing all forms of classic and contemporary text and literature, including books, graphic novels, television shows, movies, poetry and music. Their goal is to critically examine the literature, media and texts seen in everyday life.     

Global Awareness

Students in this club raise awareness about global issues of concern to them and take action locally in an attempt to make a positive impact. They participate in community and relationship-building activities within the school, including projects that range from school-based initiatives to local community events and global initiatives.
