Institute Program

Where Passion Meets Purpose

The Institute Program offers students in Grades 7–12 the chance to connect classroom learning with the real world. Through hands-on experiences, expert speakers, field studies, and industry collaborations, students explore real issues, deepen their understanding of global and local topics, and build the confidence to lead and make an impact—now and in the future.

Experiential Learning & Professional Insights

Across WIC's Institute Program, students dive into hands-on learning that bridges the gap between the classroom and real-world experiences. Through immersive activities, students apply their knowledge in practical settings such as courtrooms, business centres, medical facilities and design studios. These experiences are enhanced by mentorship from industry professionals who provide valuable insights and guidance.

This integrated approach not only deepens students’ understanding of their chosen fields but also equips them with the critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed to excel in future academic and career pursuits.

What Is the Institute Program?

Junior High

Uncover Interests, Ignite Possibilities

Junior high students take part in a series of scheduled afternoon Institute sessions throughout the school year. These experiences give students the chance to explore a wide range of topics, uncover new interests, and gain exposure to real-world ideas beyond the traditional curriculum.

Sessions are interactive and hands-on, encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and curiosity. The program promotes broad exploration and helps students build a strong foundation before entering senior high.

Senior High

Transforming Interests into Opportunities

In senior high, the Institute Program becomes more personalized and focused. Students continue to attend scheduled afternoon sessions throughout the year, but now with the ability to choose an Institute that aligns with their interests and future aspirations.

These sessions often include workshops, expert guest speakers, industry-style projects and more, giving students meaningful insight into future pathways. It’s a chance to dive deeper into passions while gaining valuable real-world skills.

Specialized

Institutes

The Institute Program offers a variety of specialized areas catering to students' individual interests and passions, providing them with opportunities for exploration and growth. These specialized areas give students the flexibility to tailor their educational journey and prepare for future academic and career success.

Each area focuses on hands-on learning and real-world applications:

I was always set on pursuing a career in health sciences, but the Institute Program gave me the chance to participate in engineering and business case competitions. These experiences honed my interests and are memories I look back on fondly. I can truly say that the Institute Program is shaping the next generation of great thinkers, leaders and innovators.
