Social Studies/Études Sociales

Discovering the Intersections of History, Geography and Ethics

The social studies program aims to develop our students into well-informed, responsible citizens with a strong understanding of historical events, geographical contexts and social dynamics.

Our curriculum fosters critical thinking, ethical reasoning and an appreciation for diverse perspectives.

By incorporating advanced content and interdisciplinary approaches, our program encourages students to explore complex social issues and develop sophisticated analytical skills, making their educational experience truly exceptional.

Senior high French Immersion students take études sociales, which is instructed completely in French.

Students Will Gain:
  • Historical Knowledge
  • Geographical Literacy
  • Civic Responsibility
  • Ethical Reasoning Skills
  • Increased Global Awareness

Social studies at WIC empowers students to explore historical and current events through multiple perspectives. By thinking critically about what we see and read, students learn to view the world in new ways. It is truly inspiring to see them find their own voice and engage in meaningful conversations about the world around them.
