Advanced Placement
The Advanced Placement Program (AP), is a program which enables students to pursue college-level studies while still in High School. Based on their performance on rigorous AP examinations, students can earn credit, advanced placement, or both for college/ university. The AP program allows High School students to take courses that are challenging, rigorous, and in-depth—exactly the kinds of courses they will face once in university.
Why AP?
AP coursework and exams help students prepare for post-secondary education. AP courses focus on critical inquiry, synthesis and research skills. Independent, creative and interdisciplinary thoughts are encouraged, as are teamwork and cross-cultural thinking. AP allows high school students to take courses that are challenging, rigorous and in-depth – exactly the kinds of courses they will experience in post-secondary.
Overview of the WIC AP Program
