Another Exciting Season Concludes for WIC Basketball!

All of our basketball teams showed dedication and camaraderie throughout the season. There was a lot to celebrate—great job Wolves!

Grade 7 Girls

The Grade 7 Girls’ Basketball team wrapped up an inspiring season marked by growth, determination, and true love for the game. Many of the players stepped onto the court for the very first time this year, and over the course of the season, they not only developed their skills at every practice and in every game but also discovered a genuine passion for basketball.

The team learned how to use setbacks as an opportunity to grow stronger and more resilient. This mindset, combined with their dedication, teamwork, and perseverance, led them to an impressive bronze medal finish. Way to go girls!!

Grade 7 Boys

The Grade 7 boys had an excellent basketball season, with over half the roster playing basketball for the first time ever this year. The joy and enthusiasm they came to the gym with led to massive development in all players, and their love for the game grew as the season went on.

This group is set up for long term success at WIC; it will be exciting to watch them continue to develop their skills and passion over the next five years.

Grade 8 Girls

The Grade 8 Girls Basketball Team had a spirited season characterized by shared leadership, strong encouragement among teammates to reach new personal athletic goals, and a consistent commitment to improving their play.

They demonstrated a growth mindset both in games and practices. The team began and finished the season strong as they capped it off by earning a bronze medal in Tier 1.

They should be proud of their achievements this season!

Grade 8 Boys

Grade 8 Boys Basketball had a memorable season. They started out slowly, but the group worked hard, and their improvement was noticeable throughout the year.

The season culminated in a 3-1 round robin record and a berth in the semi-finals. The boys ended up in 4th place in Tier 1 and are to be commended for the dedication and efforts this season.

Grade 9 Girls

Competitive and exciting games filled the Grade 9 Girls basketball season. The team finished the regular season in 5th place and battled hard in a close playoff game against Calgary Christian School.

Although their playoff run ended in the first round, the girls showed tremendous determination, teamwork, and resilience, never giving up just as they did throughout the entire season.

Grade 9 Boys

The Grade 9 Boys team enjoyed a successful season underscored by a strong commitment to individual and collective growth.

The team worked to take care of the little things every time they hit the court, and their hard work and determination paid off, as they finished the regular season 10-2. With chemistry and momentum on their side, the team pushed through to the gold medal game, where they won in a triple overtime nail-biter!

These boys earned every accolade—truly an outstanding season!

JV Boys

The JV boys played with heart all year, showing dedication and commitment every time they stepped on the court. They pushed themselves by competing in the senior WIC Classic tournament, securing a huge overtime win in the second game.

The team only lost one regular season game and almost finished the campaign with gold, ultimately earning a well‑deserved silver in the league final. We are incredibly proud of how far these boys have come and are excited for the promising future ahead of them.

Senior Girls

The Senior Girls’ Basketball team had an incredible season, finishing undefeated and capturing the CISAA championship banner.

Their success carried into tournament play, where they consistently competed at a high level. At the Lethbridge tournament, they pushed the host team to the brink in a tightly contested opener. They followed that performance with a third-place finish at the WIC Classic, highlighted by a win over a top 10 ranked 3A provincial team.

Their strong play had them on track for a top 10 provincial ranking, though they were unable to attend provincials this year. Overall, it was a highly successful season marked by growth, resilience, and a strong finish.

Senior Boys

All season long, the senior boys competed with passion and showed a strong commitment to one another as teammates. They held themselves to a high standard all year, winning one tournament, placing second in the WIC Classic, and narrowly missing out on a 3A provincial berth.

With 10 players graduating and leaving behind their legacy of leadership and compete, we are excited for the future of WIC basketball.
