Parent Guild
Building Connections, Enriching Lives
From the moment a family joins WIC, they become members of the Parent Guild (Guild). The Guild provides opportunities to engage in events and initiatives that foster connections, support fundraising efforts, and celebrate the dedication of our faculty and staff.
Together, we create a lasting impact on our students' educational journey.
Events and Initiatives
Throughout the year, the Guild organizes and volunteers at a diverse range of activities that promote unity and purpose, including:
- Parent Socials
- Recycled Uniform Sale
- Coffee & Conversation
- Staff Appreciation Dinner
- Parent Workshops
- Event Volunteering
Parent Socials
Events designed to build relationships between parents in their grade groups, enhancing the overall school experience for our students.
Recycled Uniform Sale
Hosted twice a year, this sale is the largest Guild fundraiser. Many families contribute, creating a positive impact together.
Coffee & Conversation
A newer initiative providing parents with a safe space to engage in meaningful conversations, and learn about WIC projects & initiatives.
Staff Appreciation Dinner
A highlight of the year where parents give back to our faculty & staff, celebrating their contributions.
The 2023/24 "Taste of Italy" event saw over 65 families contributing.
Parent Workshops
These workshops provide parents with the tools to help their students find their own unique success.
In September 2023, parents enjoyed a presentation by former Olympians Jason Dorland and Robyn Meagher, who shared their insights on achieving positive results through a holistic approach.
During the 2024/25 school year, parents have had multiple workshops including IT and cyber professional Paul Davis, Juno House, Wiseguyz and more!
Event Volunteering
Parents volunteer their time at many school events throughout the year, including the Winter Concert, Spring Concert & Visual Arts Showcase, Photo Day, Drama Performances, Open House, and more.
Recognizing Excellence
In June 2024, the Guild introduced the Ellie Siebens Award for Volunteerism, honouring parents of graduating students who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to WIC and our community.
Congratulations to the 2024 recipient, Cecilia Doll.
Our Impact
The Parent Guild’s fundraising efforts make a lasting difference in the WIC community, enhancing student experiences and supporting initiatives that empower success. From raising significant funds to building a sense of community, their work goes beyond dollars - it creates opportunities, leaves a legacy of generosity and helps every WIC student thrive.
The Guild's contributions have included, but are not limited to:
- Recycled Uniform Sale: Our largest fundraiser raised over $25,000 in the 2023/24 school year, which was proudly directed toward the new full-sized athletic field.
- WIC Gives: We embrace the spirit of giving back, encouraging parents to contribute time, treasure and talent to elevate student success in meaningful ways.
- Adopt-a-Family Holiday Campaign: This heartwarming initiative brings together our community through the Community in Action Club. Parents contribute baked goods for the holiday bake sale, donate items and help students wrap presents for families in need.
- Fine Arts Support: Through candy sales at drama performances, the Parent Guild directly supports Fine Arts programs, fostering creativity and artistic growth.
Grandparents'
Day
Generations Together
Every year, the Parent Guild hosts Grandparents' Day, a heartwarming event that invites grandparents and grandfriends to explore the College with their grandchildren. This special afternoon offers the opportunity for grandparents to see the WIC experience firsthand, from touring the campus to engaging with faculty & staff. It’s a meaningful tradition that strengthens the bond between generations and showcases the WIC community spirit.
Our next Grandparents' Day will take place on April 29, 2025.
