Who is considered an International Student?

WIC accepts international and out-of-province applicants who meet the same standards as all other applicants. 

By definition, ‘International Students’ are those who are:

• non-residents of Alberta; or
• in Alberta with a Canadian Study Permit and are not eligible for the Alberta Subsidy for Resident Students.

These students must assume the total cost of education for each year they attend WIC and will be subject to International Tuition, Family Membership and Capital Improvement Fees.

Application Requirements

1. WIC is a Day School

We do not offer boarding or a homestay program. Accepted students must be living with their parent(s) or a legally-appointed guardian while attending WIC (documentation is required).

2. English Proficiency Level

WIC requires applicants, where English is not their first language, to provide proof of English language ability by achieving a minimum of Level 4 on the TOEFL Junior Standard Test. Other forms of proof may be considered but must be discussed in advance with the Admissions department. 

Please only apply if your child meets the minimum English language proficiency level. Note, application fee is non-refundable.

WIC does not offer an EAL (English as an Additional Language) program and does not have adequate resources to support EAL students with insufficient English levels. WIC reserves the right to refuse any applicants who do not possess a sufficient level of English during the application phase.
