Our Multicultural Inclusive Community

At WIC, you will be immersed in a community that values diversity and inclusion.

Our multicultural community encourages students to learn from one another, appreciate different perspectives, and fosters a supportive and engaging environment where every student feels they belong.

Who is considered an International Student?

By definition, ‘International Students’ are those who are:

  • non-residents of Alberta; or
  • are in Alberta with a Canadian Study Permit and are not eligible for the Alberta Subsidy for Resident Students.

These students must assume the total cost of education for each year they attend WIC and will be subject to International Tuition, Family Membership and Capital Improvement Fees.

Requirements

WIC accepts international applicants who meet the same standards as all other applicants.

We do not offer boarding or a homestay program. Students accepted to WIC must be living with their parent(s) or a legally-appointed guardian while in Canada (documentation is required).

WIC requires applicants, where English is not their first language, to provide proof of English language ability by achieving a minimum of Level 4 on the TOEFL test. Other forms of proof may be considered but must be discussed in advance with the Admissions department.

WIC does not offer an EAL (English as an Additional Language) program and does not have adequate resources to support EAL students with insufficient English levels. WIC reserves the right to refuse any applicants who do not possess a sufficient level of English during the application phase.

TOEFL Requirements

The TOEFL Junior Standard Test measures English-language skills in four key areas: Listening, Language Form and Meaning, Reading, and Speaking. WIC requires applicants, where English is not their first language, to provide proof of English language ability by achieving a minimum of Level 4 on the TOEFL test. Other forms of proof may be considered but must be discussed in advance with the Admissions department.
