Admission Procedures
Offering pre-university training, West island College is dedicated to excellence in academics, English and French communication skills, and the arts. In addition, the College is committed to the development, in each of our students, of leadership, social responsibility and a sense of Canadian identity within a global context. A similar commitment is expected of West Island College students. Accordingly, it is strongly recommended that both prospective student and parent(s) visit the school in order to discuss enrollment.

Student Profile
Successful candidates will present a positive profile based on two criteria:

  1. Academic Preparedness
Junior School students, (Grades 7, 8 and 9), applying for entrance, must successfully complete qualifying examinations.

These examinations consist of standardized tests in English and Mathematics. Applicants are expected to achieve a minimum of "grade-level" performance in these areas of evaluation. Special preparation for these tests is not necessary. In addition to completing the written tests, each candidate for the Junior School will be interviewed by one of the College's representatives.

Admission to the Senior School is contingent upon successfully completing standardized tests as well as having an in-depth interview conducted by a member of the faculty.
  2. Strength of Character and Social Suitability
A confidential personal reference will support each student's application. This reference will be weighed with the interview conducted at the college and the candidate's suitability will be established.
